World On The Brink...
For the longest time her world had seemed to be a mecca of growth. It seemed as if there was nothing they couldn't do. Industry grew, science expanded, and it seemed that they had managed to keep death itself at bay. But like most things that seemed to be too good to be true something went wrong. It wasn't obvious at first or perhaps in the midst of new discoveries no one saw the signs but in time when it was too late they were there like a blinding light.
All the experiments stripped the land and changed the very make up or the world. More people taxed the world to the limit as they began to search out new worlds but compatibility came an issue for a world that was changing and suffering around them. People began to fight for resources and new conditions lead to new illnesses and even the dead began to raise to feed on the living. It became clear they needed to do something but adapting to a quickly changing world let alone using resources from other worlds seemed impossible, So, the greatest minds got together to create IRIS, the integrated readiness information system.
Flaws In The System...
It was brilliant able to automatically integrate resources to their fullest potential of the one using the implant. It could gain information about surroundings and make it so the person with the implant could fit into new worlds changing them and materials around them the ultimate in adaptability. It could create weapons to combat any enemies the person might face in short it was miraculous.
The flaw was no one could use it. To be that bendable wasn't something their race could handle and the minds could not deal with the input of information. It was a huge failure people dying or being driven insane by the implants and having to be put down some morphing into monsters of near a near invincible nature adding to the already stressed society as many people retreated into small communities in order to survive. The rest of the world mutating into a nightmare wasteland.
The implants were outlawed and so were all experiments concerning them but a couple of scientist believing they could fix the problem decided that instead of molding the implants to people they needed to create a person for the implant. The very last IRIS implant was taken for this purpose and they believed that if they created a baby that child would grow with the implant and thus be able to handle it. That she could have not a set code but an amendable one and this was how Brie Monroe came into being.
A Dreamed Sparked...
And it was a success she grew with the system and it became so much apart of her that she felt like she could do anything. She could withstand harsh conditions. She could analyze things in an instant and create new resources from new materials. The weapons she had also could change according to her whim ans needs at the time. It was thought that she could hold the key to undoing the damage of their world but she would need to travel across the wilds to the settlements in order to help them.
So, without a thought she headed out learning her full potential as she went with a small team whose only mission was to see her safely there where it was hoped she could began to undo the changes to their world and make it what it once was again. However, as she began her journey another force had came to her world and his name was Devin. Like so many other worlds he had come upon his control of the undead helped to aid his goal of creating chaos and destruction. As she set out to find the survivors to save them he set out bring an end to it all.
Traveling across the world one by one her protectors fell to the wilds. Killed by monsters or swallowed by the earth itself till only Brie remained pushing on to the last known settlement she made it to its door in time to see its end at the horde of the undead that tore it apart lead by the so called zombie king himself.
Burn It Down...
The settlement was on fire and chaos ruled as people were running for their lives the dead spreading across killing everyone in their path. Bringing with them destruction and Brie set out to save those she could but even with her skills she could not stand against so many as she watched person after person fall. It seemed that she would perish as well but before death would come for her someone stopped the horde. It was their leader. He claimed she was the reincarnation of his fiancee and that he would never hurt her. However, he destroyed her world and left her the only survivor in the ruins.
Swearing that she would do whatever it took to catch him she took off only to find that he was a wanted man and her world was not the first to end by his hands. She was suppose to be the chosen one but she failed her world so all she can do is go across the universe following Devin trying to keep more worlds from the same fate and hoping to find a way to kill him once and for all.
He is protective of her and as he said he has never hurt her even goes out of his way to keep her safe. They have a strange relationship and at times she can get him to not hurt others if she disapproves. She is still following him trying to stop him but slowly the way she views him is changing and only time will tell what the future might hold.
